From the wetland dream road
Route to Minato Kushiro
This route starts from Kushiro Airport and heads towards the tourist spots of Kushiro city via the Kushiro Akan Cycling Path (Marshland Dream Road). The Kushiro Akan Cycling Path was renovated from the former Yubetsu Railway, which once carried coal and people, supporting the local industry and life. You can feel the traces of the railroad that remain today as you head towards Kushiro city, where you can feel the scent of the sea breeze.

Kushiro City Wetland Observatory
Yorimichi route
A route that takes a detour to the Kushiro Marsh Observatory and the Hokuto Ruins. Pit dwellings have been reconstructed at overlapping ruins from the Paleolithic period through the Jomon and Satsumon periods to the Satsumon period, and you can tour them. The exhibition hall where artifacts excavated from that time are on display is also a must-see. Let's take a look back at the distant past and overlook the city of Kushiro from the Kushiro City Wetland Observation Deck or the hill above the ruins.

Shin-Kushiro River/Kushiro Marsh
Detour route
This route takes you on a detour to the water gate at the junction of the Shin-Kushiro River and the Kushiro River. The old water gate is a civil engineering heritage that began operation in 1931. From near the water gate, you can see Mt. Oakan and Mt. Meakan, and it is a quaint spot known as a famous spot for watching the sunset. If you're lucky, you may even encounter a red-crowned crane.
